Application Portal: Online Application as accessible through the official website. Students may also apply through email, the address of which is available on the official website. International students are also entitled to apply through Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) Application or the International Online Application.
Application Fee: Students are obligated to pay a non -refundable application fee of 100 AUD.
Admission Requirements: The following are the admission requirements for international students interested to apply for admission at the University of Newcastle:

University of Newcastle Scholarships and Financial Aid
The University of Newcastle believes in the fact that education is a universal right and thus every student should have access to value and quality education. To aid applicants in this regard, The institute provides various grants and scholarships in Australia for international students. The scholarships at the University of Newcastle range from 500 AUD to 15,000 AUD that helps students with the study cost, including accommodation and living expenses.
Some of the awards available at the institute are as follows:
- Academic Excellence Scholarship is awarded to excellent undergraduate performers. An award price of 10,000 AUD is given to the awardee.
- FEBE International Undergraduate Scholarship worth 20,000 AUD is received by an international student from the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment.
Golden Jubilee Commemorative International Scholarship
- Amount: 140,000 AUD.
- Duration: up to 5 years.
- Eligibility:
- A current student of the University of Newcastle enrolled in an undergraduate program with the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment is eligible for this scholarship.
- The aspirant should be enrolled full-time at Callaghan Campus and must not hold access to any other scholarship.
- Academic achievements and the written statement submitted by the seeker play a vital role in receiving this award.
NOTE: Entries for access to Golden Jubilee Commemorative International Scholarship are not yet open for 2020.
South Asia Business and Law Scholarship
The Faculty of Business and Law offers eligible students this scholarship. Students from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka who are looking to commence a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate Business or Law program in 2020 are encouraged to take up this opportunity.
- Amount: 12,500 AUD.
- Duration: Up to four terms (either semester or trimester) with a maximum of 2 years.
- Application: No separate application required for this scholarship.
- Eligibility:
- Any candidate enrolled in an undergraduate/postgraduate program at UON under the Faculty of Business and Law can avail this studentship.
- The student enrolled in a full-time program and coming from one of the following countries will be automatically eligible for this scholarship: India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka.
- Fields of Study: Undergraduate Programs: Business, Commerce, Combined Innovation & Entrepreneurship programs with Business, Laws (Honours) or Commerce, Combined Business programs with Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Laws (Honours) or Commerce
Engineering and Technology Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship
- Amount: 6, 000 to 18,000 AUD.
- Duration: up to 3 years.
- Application: No separate application required for this scholarship.
- Eligibility:
- To be eligible for this award, an aspirant should be enrolled in a postgraduate program with the Engineering or Technology department.
- The candidate should be able to meet the minimum GPA requirements 4.5 and must not hold any other scholarship.
- Fields of Study: Engineering or Technology Postgraduate Coursework.
Apart from many other international scholarships, the university also offers short-term student loans that are free of interest in case of financial emergency.
FEBE International Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2007 to encourage international students to study an undergraduate program with the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle, Callaghan Campus.
- Amount: 20,000 AUD
- Duration: Up to 4 years
- Criteria: Scholarship is awarded automatically on academic merit. Minimum ATAR of 85 for school leavers with no further tertiary study commenced or completed. Minimum ATAR of 94 for students with any commenced or completed qualifications. Must be a new student to FEBE and be enrolled or enrolling full-time on campus. Be eligible as a full-fee paying international student.
International Excellence Scholarship (India)
This scholarship recognises students from India with a strong academic background. They are automatically awarded, and details are provided with an offer to study from the University. The amount awarded depends on the individual level of academic achievement.
- Amount: up to 60,000 AUD based on merit
- Duration: up to 4 years
- Criteria: Be a full fee-paying student from India with an Indian passport, commencing on-campus study in 2020 in either an undergraduate program or postgraduate coursework program. Not be the recipient of another scholarship for the same study program concurrently.
