The Western Institute of Technology in Taranaki was established in 1972 and is the largest tertiary education institution in Taranaki, New Zealand. Over the years, the institute has grown dramatically. It undertakes a variety of studies and supports a number of research institutions. The institute's research committee oversees and coordinates all of the institute's research. The institute's governing council is in charge of maintaining and overseeing the institute and its academic curriculum.
There are two campuses at the institute. The Taranaki campus is the institute's primary campus. It provides students with lodging options. On campus, students have access to all of the necessary amenities.
