Publicly funded eesside University is a part of the University Alliance, a network of colleges and universities that value professional and technical education, training, innovation, and other related elements. Originally known as Constantine Technical College in 1930, it changed its name to a polytechnic in 1969, and in 1992, the Privy Council approved the establishment of 14 new universities. Teesside University claims to employ more people than any other university in the area, with more than 2,300 staff members. It is an Apple Distinguished School and recognised as the first Adobe Creative Campus in Europe.
Regarding Teesside University, it was selected the University of the Year for social inclusion in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022. It received a ranking among the world's universities in the 801–1000 range in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022. Additionally, it ranked first overall among 96 colleges globally in the International Student Barometer Survey 2021.
Northeast England's Central Middlesbrough is home to the university's main campus. There are five academic schools: the School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies, the School of Health & Life Sciences, the School of Arts & Creative Industries, and the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Law at Teesside University. Students can simply use public transportation to travel to many towns and cities in the UK. London and Edinburg may be reached by train in 2.5 hours.
Teesside University will have more than 21,000 students enrolled by 2022. 13,966 full-timers and 7,310 part-timers make up the total workforce. 246 non-UK domiciled distance learners are among the 820 students that are enrolled in courses through international partners. There are 9,345 male students and 11,913 female students enrolled at the university. There are 11,761 students in the first year. 5,495 full-time students are under the age of 21, while 178 are beyond the age of 50. Students who do not want to enrol in a full-time or part-time programme here but still want to study abroad might choose an exchange programme.
There are numerous accommodation alternatives for students, including shared homes, residence halls, and private rooms. From there, it won't take more than five minutes to walk to the campus centre. There are 1,300 rooms available on campus, each with complimentary WiFi (upto 100 MB speed). A 40-week rental agreement is another option for students who want to rent housing for a whole year. Any of the aforementioned on-campus residences can be reserved by people who don't want to remain off-campus.
Students who have received an acceptance letter to attend Teesside University are eligible for a number of scholarships and bursaries. If their study starts in September of this year, a full-time sponsored or self-funding international student is eligible for the Global Excellence Scholarship (only 2022). Outstanding students can also apply for the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship in addition to this. The Dean's International Scholarships, Teesside University Advance, Alumni Scholarship, British Council GREAT Scholarships, Commonwealth Scholarships, and others are examples of further scholarships.
Deborah Anne Dyer OBE, a British vocalist, the singer of Skunk Anansie, and the actor Stephen Uppal are a few of the well-known figures who have died in Teesside.
