Florida State University is a public university with a sea-grant mission in Tallahassee, Florida. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has classified the university, which was founded in 1851, as a "research university with extremely high research." One of the three state-designated preeminent universities is Florida State University. In addition, according to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report rankings, it is the 26th top U.S. public university in the national university category.
The main campus of Florida State University covers 485 acres and includes 14,800,000 square feet of buildings, including the Heritage Grove residences. It is bounded on the north by Tennessee Street, the south by Gaines Street, the east by Macomb Street, and the west by Stadium Drive. The university offers more than 290 programmes of study through its 16 colleges and 110 centres, facilities, labs, and institutes. There are 106 bachelor's degree programmes, 113 postgraduate programmes, an advanced master's degree programme, 70 doctorate degree programmes, 14 specialist degree programmes, and three professional degree programmes at the university. By enrolment, the colleges of social sciences, business, arts and sciences, and human science are among the most popular at FSU.

Florida State University Admission Deadlines
Students enrolling for undergraduate admissions must submit their applications and supporting documentation by November 1, 2021. (closed). After November 1, 2021, students who submit an application will get an admission decision on a rolling basis beginning in March.
To be considered for fellowships, scholarships, assistantships, tuition waivers, or other special funding, graduate students must apply in advance.

Submission of Documents for International Students
- All the academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
- A course-by-course evaluation is necessary for non-US institutions.
- This can be done by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
- The documents must be true copies that are signed and dated by an educational authority who is experienced with academic records in order to be regarded "certified."
- All supporting documents for international applicants seeking teaching assistantships must be submitted in advance.
- The ACT/SAT score must be electronically uploaded. The ACT and SAT exam codes for the university are 0734 and 5219, respectively.

Florida State University English Proficiency Test Score for International Students
Only when the testing agency sends the results to the Office of Admissions are the following test scores considered official. The results are good for two years.
Students applying for teaching assistantships must pass the SPEAK test, which assesses non-native English speakers' ability to communicate in English. Students who score 26 or higher on the TOEFL-iBT speaking section are considered for teaching assistantships. (Passing the SPEAK test is still recommended by Florida State University because it is necessary for some classes.)
