Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS University) is a private university in the Longwood Medical and Academic Area of Boston, Massachusetts that focuses on medical and health-related science programmes. New England Commission of Higher Education has granted accreditation.
The university offers both traditional and accelerated academic programmes with a focus on professional education in pharmacy and the health sciences. MCPHS offers undergraduate and graduate programmes encompassing the entire healthcare industry. Whether a student is interested in science, pharmaceutical business, or something else, the courses and real-world experiences provided at the Boston, Worcester, and Manchester Campuses will prepare them to become leaders in their respective fields and valuable members of the healthcare team.
The Direct Entry Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) programme on the Boston Campus provides students with the opportunity to participate in clinical experiences in the immersive laboratories. There are currently 7,095 students enrolled across three campuses. In addition, it has approximately 826 faculty members, including 292 full-time faculty. All teachers are highly qualified, with 90% holding advanced degrees. The ratio of students to faculty at the university is 13 to 1.
All MCPHS online programmes are offered on a part-time basis, allowing students to maintain full-time employment while pursuing a degree or certificate. Similarly, MCPHS online programmes are asynchronous, meaning that a class of students learns the same material outside of the constraints of time and place.
Students have access to the most coveted internships, clinical placements, and research opportunities in the world's top healthcare organisations. From the leading hospitals in central Massachusetts and New Hampshire to Boston's excellent Longwood Medical and Academic Area, students gain valuable, real-world experience in institutions such as the nation's No. 1 paediatric hospital and New England's No. 1 cancer treatment centre, to name a few.
Since the institute takes the educational, professional, and financial needs of the students seriously, it is investing heavily in their continued academic development. A student who successfully completes any full-time MCPHS degree is awarded a full tuition scholarship toward one of six part-time, online master's programmes: MBA in Healthcare Management, Master of Public Health, Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs and Health Policy, Master of Health Sciences, and Master of Science in Clinical Research and Clinical Management.
In addition to easing the financial burden of earning a second or advanced degree, the MCPHS Advantage Scholarship facilitates success in a variety of healthcare fields. The team-based, interdisciplinary approach is intended to expand educational and professional opportunities.
Some notable alumni: Catherine Elizabeth Ulbricht is a co-founder of the Natural Standard Research Collaboration, Ronald A. Matricaria is a businessperson who has been the CEO of eight different companies and is currently the Chairman of Systems Oncology LLC, and Robert Goforth is a Kentucky-born American politician.
