Missouri State University is located in the state of Missouri in the United States of America. The Fourth District Normal School was one of its previous names. It was founded in 1905 as a public institution. The university has 1,214 academic employees and 1,350 administrative employees. There are a total of 26,001 students, with 20,681 undergraduates and 3,709 postgraduates. It is the university's second-largest campus in terms of enrolment, with 26,001 students registered in the state's fall semester of 2019.
The institution has two campuses, one in Springfield and the other in West Plains. Fruit research sites are also located in Mountain Grove, the Department of Defense, and Missouri, as well as the Strategic Studies Program in Fairfax, Virginia. Many scholarships are available to students who excel academically, participate in leadership activities, and are in financial need. There are both donor-funded and external scholarships available, such as those offered by Fastweb, Scholarship Experts, and others.
Legislative action established Missouri State University as the Fourth District Normal School on March 17, 1905. Other normal schools existed at the time, with the primary goal of preparing teachers for the public school system. The lessons began on June 11th, 1906. On the off-campus campus, the first class had a total of 543 pupils. Academic Hall was the first permanent structure on site.
