The University of South Florida is located in Tampa, Florida. On the 18th of June 1955, Governor of Florida LeRoy Collins signed House Bill into law, establishing a new state university in Hillsborough County. The University of South Florida (USF) was founded in 1956 and became known by its current name on October 22, 1957, as the state's southernmost university at the time. John S. Allen was the institution's first president. The university was originally built on the Fowler Avenue land. The site was previously inhabited by a private commercial airstrip that operated as the Hillsborough Army Airfield during WWII. The university now contains 14 colleges dedicated to a wide range of educational subjects, and it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The University of South Florida has campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee.
The USF campus, which is located in Tampa, Florida, features a world-class infrastructure and several amenities for its students. The institution has a student-faculty ratio of 21:1, with more than 47,800 students and 15,370 staff members. International students from 128 countries make up 10% of the student population.

University of South Florida Department structure
International students at the University of South Florida have a variety of options for developing their abilities and preparing for a full academic course at the university. Throughout the year, multiple start dates are available.
- Direct Entry Undergraduate
- Students can apply to USF directly if they meet the programme entry and English language requirements for undergraduate degrees.
- Direct Entry Postgraduate
- Students who meet the required English language proficiency level and academic entry requirements for a postgraduate degree at USF are eligible to apply.
- International Year One
- Students can earn credits while improving their academic and English language skills in order to advance to the second year of a bachelor's degree programme. The duration of a student's International Year One will be determined by their English proficiency.
- Study Abroad with English
- This is a short-term programme in which students can learn English while also participating in undergraduate or graduate level courses and earning credits in some cases.
- Graduate Pathway
- Those interested in pursuing a master's degree can acquire the necessary academic and language abilities and receive credit toward their degree. The GMAT/GRE test will be prepared for and enough of support will be provided for schools that require it. One or two semester programmes are available.
- Academic English
- Students can improve their academic, English language, and critical thinking skills, all of which are necessary for success in higher education in the United States.

International students are accepted if they meet a series of dates, complete the necessary qualifications, and produce the necessary documents. Both domestic and overseas students must meet the same requirements.

University of South Florida Financial Aid for International Students
- Merit-based scholarships are available to international freshmen and transfer students at USF. The deadline for submitting an application for these scholarships is February 15, 2021. By the deadline of May 1, 2021, all needed application materials must be submitted to the USF Office of Admissions.
- Scholarships are only available to students who will begin their studies in the fall semester.
- Students can only take the scholarship with the highest prize; multiple scholarships are not permitted. High GPA and SAT/ACT exam scores are among the academic requirements for these honours.
