Institution of Utah is a public research university in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. This university, as Utah's flagship institution, provides over a hundred undergraduate majors and more than 92 graduate degree programmes. With'selective, higher transfer-in admissions,' this university has been named among the 'Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity.'
The University of Utah began as the University of Deseret in 1850. Due to a lack of money and feeder schools, it was forced to close. In 1867, it was re-established, and in 1892, it was renamed the University of Utah. During the early twentieth century, the university experienced tremendous expansion. During the 2002 Winter Olympics, this university served as the Olympic Village and hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.
The University of Utah has 17 colleges and schools in the areas of architecture + planning, business, cultural & social transformation, dentistry, education, engineering, fine arts, health, honours college, humanities, law, medicine, mines & earth sciences, nursing, pharmacy, science, social & behavioural science, and social work, spread out over 1,534 acres. It contains about 100 academic departments and a number of multidisciplinary academic programmes.
This university has a component called the University of Utah Health, which employs about 14,000 people. It is one of Utah's major employers, contributing millions of dollars in tax income to the state each year. It is Utah's first university-based health-care facility.
Its College of Fine Arts contains five academic areas and three professional arts organisations. Every year, it features a variety of skits, theatrical performances, artistic exhibits, fascinating concerts, offbeat film screenings, and opportunities to speak with local and foreign artists. This university places a high priority on the commercialization of its research. The University of Utah received $547 million in 2019 for their research spending approach. Furthermore, this university created 211.8 million dollars in licencing revenue and 69 new businesses.
