Yale University is a private Ivy League research university in New Haven, Connecticut, founded in 1701. It is the third-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and one of nine Colonial Colleges founded before the American Revolution. The 300-year-old school dates back to the 1640s, when colonial clerics decided to establish a local college in order to perpetuate the European liberal education heritage in the New World. Yale was founded as a collegiate school near Saybrook, Connecticut, in 1701. In 1718, the collegiate school was renamed Yale College in honour of Welsh entrepreneur Elihu Yale's donation of books and goods.
Connecticut Hall, one of New Haven's oldest buildings and a national historic site, was built in 1750. Yale Legal School, which was founded in 1824, is frequently recognised as one of the best law schools in the country. The law school has a long history of developing and training exceptional jurists, judges, practitioners, and government officials. Yale Literary journal was created in 1836. It is the country's oldest literary review and has been at the forefront of novel approaches to literature studies. Yale became the first university in the United States to grant Doctor of Philosophy degrees in 1861. The undergraduate liberal arts college, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and twelve professional schools are among the University's fourteen constituent schools.
In 2018, 13,433 full-time and part-time students, including 5,964 undergraduates and 7,469 graduate and professional students, were taught at the university. In addition to the more than 80 undergraduate majors available, the University provides a variety of supplementary programmes designed to provide students with specialised expertise in a variety of fields. Each year, undergraduate students can pick from approximately 2,000 courses. Yale's student body is one of the most varied in the world, with students from all walks of life and backgrounds. In 2018, Yale accepted 2,694 foreign students from 123 countries, accounting for roughly 20.7 percent of all international students. Canada, China, Germany, India, South Korea, and the United Kingdom account for the majority of international students.

Admission Requirements for International Students
Students must submit either an ACT or SAT score with their application. These results are only valid for a period of five years. If tests are done after high school, the results will not be acknowledged. The average scores are shown in the table below:
- ACT Composite Score: 33 – 35
- SAT Score: Evidence Based Reading and Writing: 720 – 770;
Mathematics: 730 – 790.

Yale University's graduate schools provide more than 2,000 courses to interested students. The criteria, application process, and application price for most graduate courses at Yale vary.
How to apply: There are a variety of portals to choose from if you want to take a specific course. The applications are submitted on the website of their individual school.
When to apply: Each course and school has its own set of deadlines. Students are only accepted during the fall semester. Applications are accepted a year before the start of the course.
