Renewable energy is the vital part for creating a clean energy future for not only a country, but the world. A powerful combination of enabling trends and demand trends—evident in multiple developed and developing nations globally—is helping solar and wind compete on par with predictable sources and win.

World Energy Consumption relies heavily on oil, natural gas and coal. Fossil fuels are non-renewable, which is, they rely on fixed resources that will ultimately diminish, becoming too environmentally damaging to regain. But renewable energy resources are constantly being reloaded and will never dried out. Demand from energy consumers has mostly amalgamated around three goals that the first three trends have enabled renewables to best fulfill. With varying degrees of emphasis on each goal, consumers are seeking the most reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible energy sources.

Due to the rising need for professionals and academics with a background and understanding in the Renewable Energy field, Holon Institute of Technology (“HIT”) developed a new program at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The Renewable Energy program gives the students technical and practical aspects of energy use (technology and methodology of the study) and energy efficiency. The program also deals with minimizing the environmental impacts of energy use, as well as with energy economy and environmental policy.

Many foreign Universities especially Europe offer courses relating to Renewable Energy and prominent among them is Master of Science (MSc) degree. It is typically awarded to students who have already earned a four-year undergraduate degree in a science field. Some MSc programs combine both coursework and a research thesis, while others focus on one or the other method of education. Generally, MSc degree programs are two to three years in duration.

The MSc in Renewable Energy prepares students with a deep understanding of production, generation, storage, and the transmission of renewable sources.

The careers available for students who earn an MSc in Renewable Energy include positions in power plant management and operations, energy systems design and installation, as well as government positions related to energy efficiency and alternative energy usage. Other graduates may find career possibilities as energy auditors (onsite assessment), or graduates may be prepared to pursue further education in a doctoral degree in a related topic of alternative energy use and consumption technologies.
