The Master of Teaching complements your non-education bachelor degree, helping you move into the teaching field.
This course prepares you to work in a diverse range of services for the education and care of children from birth to year 7 (early childhood and primary); or for primary school teaching from transition to year 7 (primary); or for secondary school teaching from up to year 12 (secondary), depending on the stream selected.
This course prepares you for new and changing roles as an educator and it ensures:
You have continuing awareness of the environmental and cultural influences on teaching and learning.
You understand the needs of learners and communities with diverse linguistic and cultural orientations, including Indigenous learners at a postgraduate level.
As a teacher, you will possess levels of personal literacy and numeracy broadly equivalent to the top 30% of the Australian population. This course provides for teacher registration in all states and territories in Australia.
Course Structure
This course comprises various core units and specialist elective units based upon different streams:
a) Early childhood and primary stream: 14 core units and 2 specialized electives,
b) Primary stream: 14 core units and 2 specialized electives, and
c) Secondary stream: 10 core units and 6 specialized electives.
