Program Description

  • This course gives students who are enrolled in the Western Sydney University Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) the opportunity to take leave of absence from the normal medical course for 12 months full time or 24 months part-time, after successfully completing years 1 and 2 of MBBS, in order to gain a more detailed experience in medical research than is provided in the normal medical course.

  • Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Medical Research are identical to years 1 and 2 of MBBS. It is expected that students will return to the medical course on completion of the intercalated year, which will complete the requirements for the Bachelor of Medical Research, but the degree is also available as an exit point for those who do not wish to resume MBBS.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

  • Successful Completion of Global Assessment Certificate with a GPA of 2.0.

  • Successful completion of Cambridge International or Edexcel GCE O Level examinations with at least 2 Credits and 2 Passes in 4 core subjects
