Advanced Diploma In Architectural Technology in Algonquin College, Canada

Advanced Diploma In Architectural Technology in Algonquin College

This three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program prepares students for careers in architectural offices and the building industry. The program of study integrates the relationship between conceptual solutions and contract documents. The first 2 years of the technology program are common to the Architectural Technician program. These two years are followed by an additional year of study concentrating on large buildings.

The curriculum emphasizes an in-depth understanding of the many facets of building and construction including residential and commercial building envelope design, working drawings, construction documentation, construction methods and materials and computer-assisted design and drafting. In their final year students participate in a team project aimed at reconciling the many considerations in designing a building, including aesthetic and technical resolution.

This program offers two optional cooperative education (Co-op) Work Terms. Qualified students with a minimum GPA of 2.7 have the opportunity to apply for paid co-op employment to gain work experience and industry connections. *See Additional Information for details.

In addition to the paid Co-op option, students participate in an unpaid one- week work placement as part of their program of study in Level 06.
