Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour, thoughts, and feelings. Topics include personality, motivation, and relationships. It also examines how we develop and learn, how our social roles and culture affect us, and the impact of stress and mental health issues. Our Associate of Arts Degree program is the first two years of a BA.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology, appropriate to the course level (lower level or upper level), with awareness of the limits of their knowledge. (This accomplishes Goal 1 of the APA [American Psychological Association] assessment profile).
- Use critical and creative thinking and scientific inquiry to analyze, evaluate and synthesize course materials and related information.
- Identify and demonstrate the application of ethical reasoning, social responsibility and sensitivity to diversity in the research enterprise and the application of psychology.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral modes.
- Apply quantitative and qualitative reasoning and problem-solving, and use and interpret research methods and statistical analyses, with respect to issues in psychology.
