You will learn how to examine business from multiple angles and how to maximize your unique skill set. Industry professionals who work in the business accounting field will teach you how to balance the books in manufacturing and merchandising sectors, banks, and other financial institutions. You will also learn how to analyze numbers in public accounting firms and federal, provincial, and municipal government offices by using cutting edge accounting software. With your business accounting diploma, there are options to transfer to the Business Administration-Accounting advanced diploma or the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree at Fanshawe. Professional certification
Graduates choosing to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation may path into Fanshawe's Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree.
Students who complete the program will be eligible for exemptions from ACCA papers F1-F3.
Important update to CPA Canada's Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF): In July 2019, CPA Ontario has advised that the CPA ACAF program will be discontinued. Students will have until February 2021 to write the ACAF examination, after which time the CPA will no longer offer any exams for the ACAF. Graduates of the Business – Accounting program are prepared to enter the accounting field in the public sector, the private sector (e.g., manufacturing, service industries and public accounting) as well as the not-for-profit sector. Graduates are suited to a variety of entry-level positions, including accounting assistant, junior accountant, staff accountant, bookkeeper, assistant controller, accounts payable and receivable clerk, billing administrator and tax practitioner.
