A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) prepares graduates who are committed to excellence in professional practice and who will contribute to the health and well-being of individuals, families, communities and society. Graduates of this program also possess introductory knowledge and competencies for nursing leadership, education and research. BScN graduates are eligible to write the NCLEX-RN Canadian Registered Nurse Examination and apply to become a Registered Nurse (RN). 

Learn the Skills You Need

MacEwan University's BScN is a rigorous, four-year, 132-credit degree program. Knowledge, concepts and theories are integrated from the discipline of nursing, the liberal arts and sciences. The curriculum is uniquely sequenced to promote integration and application of knowledge and diverse skills, such as relational and ethical practice, critical thinking and clinical judgement, risk assessment, health promotion and injury prevention, writing, and health assessment. Knowledge, skills and attributes are integrated within classroom, laboratory and practice settings. 

The BScN program has two intakes per year:

  • Fall Term (September)
  • Winter Term (January)

The focus of the MacEwan baccalaureate nursing program is to prepare graduates for initial entry into direct practice. Foundational knowledge and skills are integrated for registered nursing within administration, education and research.

The MacEwan BScN program is recognized by several Canadian Universities to prepare graduates with the required knowledge and academic skills for further education. Entry into graduate studies is dependent upon the individual program criteria, including Grade Point Average (GPA).
