Course summary
Biological Sciences is an exciting and rapidly developing subject area, with many applications in the pharmaceutical, food and healthcare, and agri-food industries. Biological Sciences is the study of life and living organisms. In particular, it is the study of how cells work and how they can function individually (like bacteria) or collectively (like plants and animals). There are many branches of study in Biology and many of these specialised areas can be studied in CIT's Department of Biological Sciences.
The Common Biological Sciences programme is a two-year course designed for students interested in Biological Sciences as a career, but who may be unsure of which discipline to follow.
The scheme gives students the opportunity to see the three disciplines areas, first hand, through the various modules on offer, interaction with lecturers, and industrial site visits.
This allows the student to make an informed decision on their discipline of study.
