This degree course has been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and practical experience within the crossdisciplinary domains of technology and creativity and will allow you pursue a career in a dynamic, high-tech digital and creative industry.
Why is Creative Computing important?
Enterprise Ireland has identified a huge demand for digital media content as a growth area in Ireland, with business start-ups in digital media running at twice the rate it had expected. The unique crossdisciplinary nature of this course will foster technical and creative knowledge to work in the domains of technology, creativity and management of digital media.
Subject Areas
You will study Mobile and Web Development allied to the creative disciplines of Media Production, Digital Graphic Design and Animation. In your final year you will specialise in one of Animation, Media/Graphic Design or e-Learning.
Unique features
You will gain theoretical and practical skills using innovative industry standard tools and technologies to become proficient in Creative Computing. This will enable you to design and develop creative custom-built interactive software applications, which communicate information tailored to the user using a combination of media types including text, graphics, audio, video and animation. In your final year you are given the freedom to focus on specialist areas of interest, through your choice of elective modules and project subject area.
Placement
All students have the opportunity to undertake a period of Work Placement for a semester in year 3, allowing them to put the academic theory into practice. As well as learning new knowledge and skills in industry, they gain valuable insights into working life which helps them to make informed career decisions later. It also helps to develop their CV, enhances employability and kick starts the creation of a network of potential contacts for their future career.
