Foundation Course In Management With Ielts English in Global College Malta

This European accredited foundation pre-degree course is designed to empower candidates to enter into the first year of a management undergraduate degree. In addition, it allows students to bridge the gap between their school qualifications and entry into the first year of a management Bachelor degree taught in an English medium.

Awarding Body

Upon successful completion of this course, the certificate will bear Global College Malta as the awarding body.

Duration

The maximum span of this programme is 12 months for full-time students.

Intake

This programme commences every October or March.

Assessment

This course is designed to be an integral component of the knowledge acquisition process. Formative feedback will be provided to students throughout their course. For that reason, evaluation within the modules will take the form of assignments, presentations and examinations.

Exemption

Those students who already possess IELTS 6.0 equivalent will be exempt from the English Components of this programme.

Overall course objectives The overall objectives of the course are to:
  • Enable students to progress to the first year of an English University to read for a management degree. Alternatively, they should be able to enter a Scottish University management degree at second year level.

  • Assist the students to ‘learn how to learn’ and to take ownership for planning and managing their studies to meet the course standards and deadlines.

  • Develop the students as autonomous learners and acquire the study skills needed to succeed in further studies at degree level, progress to employment and engage in lifelong learning.

  • Develop the students’ ability and confidence to undertake the role of supervising their own work and that of their peers to become co-creators of their own learning.

  • Provide support and opportunities for students to develop a level of fluency in the English language which will provide them with a sound foundation for job applications and career advancement

  • Further develop and improve English language skills, written and spoken, through practical application to management tasks and activities.

  • Engage the students in actively contributing to quality assurance and quality improvement processes to enhance the course and their learning experiences.

For students who do not desire to attend university within the United Kingdom, the course will act as a valuable stand-alone introduction to management and the English language, thus advancing their skills portfolio. The introduction of management skills will also greatly benefit students in the job market.
