Our Theatre Technology and Production degree aims to prepare you for a fulfilling career in those areas dedicated to the support of live performance practice.

What will i study?

In year 1 you will engage with those crucial building block skills relating to sound, lighting, theatre design and stage management within modules such as Introduction to Performance Lighting, Assistant Stage Management and Introduction to Performance Sound.

Year 2 sees you develop those skills looking at more complex production areas with modules such as Contemporary Performance Lighting, Live Performance Visuals (projection mapping and the use of live projection techniques) and Creative Sound Design.

Year 3 offers a much more project based experience with you taking the management of lager scale technical productions and completing a work placement module which links with local industry partners in preparation for employment once you graduate.

What can i do next?

As a successful graduate you could find yourself working within a theatre technical department, technical support for cruise ships, school and college technical support, sound engineering, video design, stage management, company management, theatre design. Some graduates have elected to continue their education by progressing on to Masters’ degree qualifications and others have decided to train to teach in schools or further education.
