Course Overview

​The professionally accredited BSc Biomedical Sciences (Health, Exercise & Nutrition) degree at Cardiff Met focuses on the scientific study of all aspects of lifestyle, and the strategies that can be employed to improve health. 

Emphasis is placed on the role that exercise, health promotion and nutrition contribute to this end. The course includes a series of fundamental science-based modules in human physiology, nutrition, biochemistry and psychology. 

This course is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology for the purpose of meeting in part the academic and experience requirement for Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol).

Common First Year
Please note that the BSc Biomedical Science degree and the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences with Health, Exercise & Nutrition degree share a common first year. On successful completion of the first year, students can decide which degree to follow from year two onwards.

Many staff pursue ‘cutting edge’ research initiatives with collaborative Institutions including Cambridge University Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Cardiff University Medical School, the Welsh School of Pharmacy, University of Bath and the Institute for Sports Nutrition. ​

This programme has been accredited by the Royal Society of Biology following an independent and rigorous assessment. Accredited degree programmes contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers. The accreditation criteria require evidence that graduates from accredited programmes meet defined sets of learning outcomes, including subject knowledge, technical ability and transferable skills.
