Architectural technology brings together the disciplines of architectural design and construction technology – creating, planning and managing manage building projects that not only look aesthetically pleasing, but also incorporate sound structural, environmental and construction aspects within their design.
This course, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), prepares you to play a pivotal role in the construction industry – one of the world’s largest and most influential industries – as an architectural or building technologist.

Course information
This course aims to prepare you to provide technical and aesthetic contributions to building projects, making sure that designs are buildable, durable, sustainable, economical and easy to maintain.
As such, you will cover a broad range of topics and develop skills and expertise important to all construction professions: architectural design, technical knowledge and understanding, communication, problem solving and personal development.
We place an emphasis on the architectural design process, the cultural and economic environment in which development takes place, building performance analysis and the construction technologies available to achieve sustainable building solutions. You will also be given a solid grounding in the drawing and modelling of architectural forms, together with the research techniques to assess materials and components.
Career prospects
As an Architectural Technology graduate from Coventry University, you will be perfectly suited to architectural practice, although many students use their extensive transferrable skills to move into BIM management, construction contracts and development, planning departments, interior design or the oil and gas industries, along with many other final destinations.
