Creative Writing In Contemporary Culture | BA (hons) in Leeds Beckett University

Course Details

Explore all forms of writing, from historical narratives to literary texts, drama to adaptations, and mediated writing that makes use of technology.

You will be guided by practising writers and researchers, and the modules you undertake will encourage an interdisciplinary approach to understanding writing and contemporary culture. As you engage with different disciplines, you will inform your own creative practice and develop strong communication and creative thinking skills.

Your first year will provide you with a broad foundation in creative practice and cultural studies, before you specialise in your second and third years. In your second year, you will start to tailor your course to suit your career aspirations through a range of option modules. You will develop your own creative practice by exploring in more depth poetry and the short story. Your third year will see you complete a dissertation-length project in addition to producing an anthology in collaboration with your fellow students and developing entrepreneurial skills.
