Fashion Marketing | BA (hons) in Leeds Beckett University

Course Details

Learn how marketing can have a major impact on the popularity and reputation of fashion brands the world over, from high-street labels to those dominating the catwalks of London, Paris and New York. You will gain an understanding of business and PR by exploring the fashion journey, from the design stage through to production, display and advertising.

We will teach you to identify and predict trends, and you will learn why these trends are so important to the fashion industry. You will also discover the techniques behind ensuring your brand gets the attention of influential fashion bloggers and how to get your clothing into the headlines, as well as studying fashion history and the effect of political changes and social movements on fashion.

Your studies will be informed and delivered by people from all areas of the fashion industry, and you will work on live briefs set by real clients. You will also have the opportunity to do a placement year and experience a range of careers first hand. Our placements will allow you build your experience and contacts, as well as helping you decide what you want to achieve when you graduate.

Whether you want to focus on the theory of marketing, learn more about fashion writing or discover graphic design and branding, you will be able to tailor your course to suit your career ambitions.

This course offers the opportunity to take a ‘sandwich’ year – a year of paid employment in industry which will build your skills and experience. This is usually taken between the second and third year of your degree, typically making your course four years in total. Students who choose the sandwich route find it helps with both their studies and getting a job after graduation. It can build your confidence, contacts, and of course your CV. Leeds Beckett advertise lots of placement opportunities and provide support in helping you find the right placement for you.
