International Events Management | Pg Dip in Leeds Beckett University

Course Details

Many events now have an international focus and are organised across cultural, economic and geographical boundaries. Providing a sound theoretical underpinning of the cultural, political, ethical and economic aspects of the sector, this course will develop the practical and strategic knowledge required to run international events effectively.

Guest speakers from industry will share their expertise and insights through a series of lectures. These events, combined with case studies and field trips, will keep the course contemporary and industry focused.

Studying alongside UK and overseas students on the course will inspire your learning. You will be encouraged to share your experiences and trade cultural insights with your peers, helping you to refine your understanding of events management across the world so you can excel in your career.

This course is suitable if you want to enter the profession at managerial level or want to add an international dimension to your professional expertise.

The university has been given a five-star rating for our academic work in Hospitality & Leisure Management by QS, the international higher education benchmarking agency.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

The teaching methods in this course are diverse and provide variety to the student learning experience; however, this may be dependent on the mode of study. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and online learning materials, and will embrace a blended learning approach. Students are encouraged to reflect on their knowledge, experience and practice, and peer interaction is encouraged to enable students to share their experiences in order to modify and develop their own, and others, business practices.

Each module will have between two and three hours of class contact per week, which is in addition to time required for private learning and completing assignments. Students are supported by the University's virtual learning environment X-Stream which allows individual access to study, personal development and employability skills materials together with an extensive resource site for each module.

The taught elements of the course are delivered by Centre staff all of whom have considerable festival and events industry and research experience. A small number of option modules are taken from the Centre's Distance Learning programme and will require less face-to-face contact with staff which may suit those studying the part-time mode.
