• Develop traditional and digital reporting skills and equip yourself to work in the fast-paced world of modern journalism. Gain understanding of media technologies that affect the way journalists discover, record and report the latest stories.

Work placements

This course is focused on the professional sphere and modules are designed to give you a breadth of relevant real-world experience in preparation for your future careers.

You are encouraged to identify and undertake relevant work experience to inform your work as a multimedia journalist and build on what you learn in class.

Our teaching team includes journalists with both recent and current experience working for BBC News, BBC Radio 4, ITV regional news, Radio 5 Live, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Sheffield Star and Yorkshire Post.

This enhances our ability to offer local work experience opportunities for our students. We also support you in securing work experience overseas, perhaps in your home country, should you wish. Our students have gained professional experience working at many news and PR outlets.

Work experience is strongly recommended and students are made aware of regular opportunities as these arise.
