Bsc (hons) Maritime Business in Solent University (Southampton)
Studying at Solent University will help you to capitalise on these opportunities and attain the combination of business acumen and maritime expertise that employers in the industry are looking for. The key aim of the maritime and business degree is to build students’ knowledge, understanding and employability skills to prepare them for their future careers.
Solent’s annual maritime conference is one of the highlights of the academic calendar and allows students to network with industry experts and make valuable contacts. It also offers the opportunity to listen to a wide range of industry leaders speaking about current maritime issues, keeping students up-to-date with what is happening in the industry ‘right now’. As well as providing for an ever growing social calendar (including an annual dinner and an end of year boat party), the Maritime Society is in regular contact with our international alumni, who help arrange guest speakers and get involved with volunteering opportunities.
As a direct benefit of our accreditation from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), students will receive exemptions from the academic requirements for membership at either ‘chartered member’ or ‘membership level’ of CILT. In the same way, students will be entitled to exemptions from two of the ICS exams (Professional Qualifying Examinations) required to gain ICS membership (an internationally recognised mark of professionalism in the shipping industry).
