Specialised equipment
The School of Science is very proud of its continuing investment in state-of-the art analytical equipment which includes scanning electron microscopes, a range of organic and inorganic mass spectrometers, a confocal microscope, a Raman microscope, several nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers and crystallographic techniques including x-ray diffraction. Equipment is purchased from internationally respected manufacturers including Agilent, Bruker, Hitachi, Thermo and Zeiss to ensure you are conversant with the hardware and software widely used in industry. In addition, we host key techniques which include particle sizing by dynamic light scattering, rheology and texture analysis, thermal analysis and dissolution testing. Plus, a range of methods for preparing samples such as hot melt extrusion, 3-D printing, tabletting, blending and mixing are studied.
