If you are passionate about research and expanding the knowledge base of health and social care, MPhil and PhD study is the path for you.

We have a large and growing PhD programme at the University of Greenwich. You will be supported by a supervisory team and dedicated programme leader and your progress will be monitored by university committees.

We focus on applied social science, including sociology, social policy and psychology. So whether you are interested in full or part-time study for an MPhil or PhD degree, we welcome applications for health, nursing, social work, psychology and counselling.

Degree structure

In the first two terms you will be required to take courses in qualitative and quantitative methods. This is in addition to critical appraisal of the literature, unless you have recently completed courses in these areas that are of a similar standard.

Time commitment

As a part-time student, you will be expected to devote a minimum of 12 hours per week to your postgraduate work.

Academic support

Our programme is designed to support you in the challenges of doctoral study and research. The teaching and supervisory teams draw on a vast range of practical and academic experience in health and social care/ psychology research and doctoral supervision.

Your fellow students also provide a strong network for motivation and support throughout your doctoral journey.

Application

You must identify an area of research that you wish to pursue and submit an outline proposal of approximately 1,500 words with your application form.
