Want to learn how to grow and manage business reputations? Our PR and digital communications course will give you all the skills you need.

Our degree in public relations and communications will teach you how to manage the reputations of different types of organisation (businesses, public sector and NGOs) in different industries (including fashion, beauty, healthcare and tech). 

You will learn to strategically use areas of communication practice such as digital, media relations, internal communications and public affairs, while developing your own personal brand and learning fascinating theories (like those about persuasion and social psychology).

We work with leading PR consultancies and our PR alumni, who teach on the course. Our students have secured placements at companies such as Apple, Disney, Ford and Sony. Our recent graduates now work at the BBC, Twitter and Weber Shandwick.

Careers and placements

Will I have a work placement?

Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.

Previous students have secured a placement year at Apple, Saab, Walt Disney and Talk PR.

How long is my placement?

Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.

What are the financial arrangements?

UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000 and £18,000 pro rata. Some charity/voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

Graduates may pursue a variety of PR and communication roles across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. PR and communication skills are also applicable to careers in marketing, management and teaching. 

Recent graduates from this degree have secured roles at the BBC, Twitter and PR consultancies (e.g. Weber Shandwick, Golin Harris, and the Four Communications).

Are internships available?

Internships are optional, and last for a minimum of six weeks. Gain a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before graduating.
