This flexible programme offers you a solid framework in accounting and finance, allowing you to tailor modules around your interests.

The course has been structured to provide you with practical skills, knowledge and commercial awareness that will enhance your future employability. Upon completion of the degree, you will be able to progress your career in business, HR or financial organisations stretching across any sector or industry.

We will support you to achieve your career and study ambitions, which is why if you complete our Employability Plus Gold programme or Changemaker Gold certificate alongside your studies and if you haven’t secured full-time employment 12 months after graduating* we will secure a three – six month paid internship for you, or support you into postgraduate study.

Course Details

This course combines Business and Accounting modules that will provide you with a key grounding in both subject areas. You are introduced to all areas of business preparing you for a future of making sound operational and strategic decisions, which is key in current organisations demanding higher levels of business related skills. Accounting encompasses a wide range of activities and is an integral aspect of business life in all sectors and across nations.

You will explore issues in strategic management and undertake a module which focuses on developing skills relating to careers, job-searching and professional development. You will be able to study the more strategic and specialist areas of accounting and finance including financial services,

Optional Work Placement Year

You are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. Whilst on your Optional Work Placement Year you will study a 40 credit module ‘The Placement Year Experience – Organisations in Context’. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.

Methods of Learning

For this course taught study would be a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops, usually for 12 hours per week. We recommend you spend 32 hours per week in self-directed study time.

Assessments

A variety of teaching and learning strategies are used including lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials. The programme employs innovative methods of learning and assessment such as computer modelling and video presentations. Units are assessed separately using a mixture of examinations, coursework, presentations and projects.
