Bsc (hons) Midwifery Shortened in University of Suffolk

This course is designed for registered nurses to train as midwives. This course will enable you to acquire appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes to deliver safe and high-quality midwifery care for all women and their partners. It will also equip you to develop interpersonal and negotiation skills that can be utilised within a range of multidisciplinary settings to improve choice, access and continuity of care for childbearing women and their families.  

The course is divided into theoretical (50%) and practice components (50%). The practice learning and assessments takes place in a range of clinical placements.

Successful students can gain registration as a midwife on the Nursing and Midwifery Professional Register. Career opportunities

This qualification provides opportunities for employment as a midwife in community and hospital settings within the NHS and in private or independent practice. Future careers in clinical practice, research, management and education are all possible options. Students are also able to work across the European Union, plus other countries where this qualification is recognised.
