MA Applied Imagination in University of the Arts London, UK
MA Applied Imagination in University of the Arts London
MA Applied Imagination is a non-disciplinary, student-centred course which invites you to achieve agency as a changemaker and to develop into a confident and responsible creative practitioner.
The course recognises the cross-disciplinary nature of contemporary global challenges. Students are invited to engage in unique, self-directed research journeys, forming their own external networks and experimenting with new forms of knowledge production. The course asks you to pose questions that spring from your individual concerns and which develop across or outside traditional disciplinary boundaries. These may be questions that are not yet being asked and which may challenge the dominant parameters of our cultural, economic and political landscape. The new connections and networks formed and the skills and knowledges deployed give you an enhanced sense of agency over your creative and professional futures.
The course supports transformative learning journeys built around curiosity, research, testing, reflection, action and external verification from experts and other stakeholders. This process of external research is scaffolded by a network of supporting structures: a multi-disciplinary course team of creative practitioners; a rich and varied body of visiting academic and industry experts; a dynamic global alumni network, plus, established relationships with key organisations and pressure groups engaged in professional practice, social entrepreneurship, activism and trans-disciplinary learning.
Transformative learning in a non-disciplinary space encourages you to establish your own empowering external networks, and to develop your professional courage through surfacing and investing in your chosen creative imperatives. Professional confidence and capability result from your direct creative engagement with the society in which we live and your resulting agency to first envisage and then create change.
