OVERVIEW

The BSc (Hons) Applied Bioscience with Forensic Investigation will equip you with the forensic analytical skills to assess crime scenes, analyse biological and chemical evidence and develop complex problem solving skills.

Placement/Work-based learning

You may undertake a 12-week placement during Year 3 where you can apply the skills, techniques and knowledge gained so far.

There are various areas where good scientific skills are required including clinical laboratories; analytical laboratories; research laboratories; contract research organisations; distillers; and support companies.

This degree has been accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) following an independent and rigorous assessment.

Accredited degrees contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers. The accreditation criteria require evidence that graduates from accredited degrees meet defined sets of learning outcomes, including subject knowledge, technical ability and transferable skills.

This course meets, in part, the academic and experience requirement for the Membership of the RSB and Chartered Biologist (CBiol) status.

COURSE DETAILS

Focusing on the theory and application of laboratory techniques used in bioscience and forensic science, you will have opportunities to practice scientific techniques, analysis and data presentation. Learning and assessment is varied and interactive including case studies and discussion groups.
