Digital Media And Communication BA Honours in University of Westminster, London

In an exciting and rapidly changing world, the Digital Media and Communication BA Honours is designed to prepare you for a future you cannot yet imagine.

The University of Westminster was the first institution to deliver a media studies degree and we continue to embrace new and emerging technologies to ensure that our courses meet tomorrow’s needs. The course combines a rigorous programme of academic study with the practical knowledge you need to work across the digital and creative industries.

Through theory and practice modules you will develop the high-level skills employers value: critical thinking, communication skills and the ability not only to think creatively but also to evaluate creativity in different formats. Learning takes place both in and outside the classroom and we use every opportunity to interact with and draw inspiration from the rich cultural life of the capital.

The course benefits from its close links to CAMRI, our internationally renowned Communication and Media Research Institute. You will learn from and debate with academics who are at the forefront of their field, helping you to develop a critical perspective on the social and cultural dimensions of media that will ensure you are always ahead of the game.

On a practical level you will learn how media businesses and institutions operate and will spend at least a third of your time on practice-based work, including web production and design. Final year students apply their skills to a web-based project for their chosen charity. Your choice of optional modules allows you to tailor this interdisciplinary course to your interests, which means that our graduates are engaged, well-rounded and highly sought-after by future employers.

Students have the opportunity to spend one semester of their second year abroad and can pick from a huge network of partner organisations across the world. In the past, some of our students studied at the Universidad CEU San Pablo, Hong Kong Baptist University and at the University of Technology Sidney.
