The Department of Occupational Therapy at Chicago State University (CSU) has a long and distinguished history. The University was founded in 1867, and the occupational therapy program has been continually accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education since 1984. Our many graduates work as skilled clinicians, managers, entrepreneurs, and educators throughout the country.
Our diverse and dedicated faculty members all have strong backgrounds in clinical practice, academic scholarship, and professional service. Members of our faculty hold leadership positions within the profession, and they have published and presented at national and international conferences. The faculty is committed to providing quality educational opportunities to our students. We include fieldwork experiences in every semester of our curriculum. While students have opportunities to work in traditional settings, we also ensure that all students have fieldwork experiences in innovative community based programs. All of these experiences are structured to help students to apply classroom concepts in real world situations.
