Business Administration (bs) in Indiana State University

The University offers a bachelor of science (BS) in business administration.

Business Administration is a diversified major designed for students who need a broad background, whether for managing businesses of their own or for taking a position with a large business where they will receive more specialized training.

Coursework includes a required core of business courses—plus nine credits selected from each of three business emphasis areas: accounting; business education, information, and technology; economics; finance and real estate; insurance and risk management; management; management information systems; marketing; or operations and supply chain management. Courses must be taken at the 300-400 level and not duplicate business core courses.

  • Emphasis Area I—choose 9 credits from area I
  • Emphasis Area II—choose 9 credits from area II
  • Emphasis Area III—choose 9 credits from area III

In addition, students complete the University's Foundational Studies Program, which provides the knowledge students need in critical thinking, leadership, and interpersonal and communication skills. A complementary business minor is recommended but not required.

The most distinctive characteristic of the Business Administration Program—the most popular major in the University's Scott College of Business—is the customized approach to selecting the specific set of courses that supports each student's career goals. The program is ideal for students who desire a broad education rather than a narrow focus, and want the flexibility to build an appropriate program of study.

Through the University's many partnerships with business and industry, students have the opportunity to engage in applied research and inquiry. Students apply what they learn through hands-on inquiry, research, and life-changing field experiences that bring knowledge to life and give students real-world understanding.
