Biostatistics gives students the opportunity to fuse their interest in biology with their aptitude for statistics and computing. Students are trained in the application of statistical methods to the area of health sciences. Through particular focus on clinical trial data analysis, students acquire the skills to succeed in pharmaceutical research and biomedical industries.
Biostatistics majors combine knowledge of experimental design and computational and data-analytic practices with the ability to communicate effectively with health professionals and pharmaceutical researchers. From drug testing to public health programs, biostatisticians use math to make lives better; their work is motivated by questions relating to the health of people—as individuals or members of a population. Recent graduates of the program have found positions with pharmaceutical companies, university research groups, hospitals and other health-related industries
