Forensic Science in New Jersey Institute of Technology

Forensic science is the application of sciences to matters of law. Recent advances in biological and chemical forensic analysis have dramatically improved the way investigators collect, process and document pieces of evidence to investigate crime scenes. Today, skilled forensic scientists perform work in a diverse range of forensic science disciplines — from document examination to crime scene investigation.

With a sound foundation in chemistry, biology and law, forensic scientists apply their strong analytical skills to conduct a wide range of investigative research for local, state, or federal crime and investigative laboratories. Graduates are highly-skilled and trained to apply the latest analytical instrumentation and techniques used for trace evidence analysis, DNA identification, forensic microscopy, quality assurance, chain of custody procedures, and importantly, expert witness courtroom testimony.
