The Cleveland State University (CSU) was founded in the 1880s when the Cleveland YMCA began giving evening and day classes to disadvantaged students. The YMCA curriculum was restructured as the Association Institute in 1906, and Fenn College was founded in 1929. Cleveland State University was founded as a state-aided college in 1964, and it took over Fenn College's campus, curriculum, and faculty. The university is currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Its varied programmes have also been accredited by a number of notable organisations. The university has ten schools and colleges dedicated to various disciplines of study.
The main campus of Cleveland State University spans 85 acres in size and contains more than 40 buildings. It is located in the heart of downtown Cleveland.
