The University of Missouri (MU) is a public research university with a land-grant mission. It was founded in 1839 as the first public university of higher learning in the United States. It is the flagship campus of the University of Missouri System and one of the 34 public universities that make up the Association of American Universities. The university's research centre is considered as the world's most powerful research reactor. This is also the university that oversees the University of Missouri Health Care system, which includes four hospitals in Mid-Missouri. The university was placed 190th globally and 73rd in the United States in the 2018-19 CWUR World Universities Rankings.
The university's campus, which spans 1,262 acres and is kept as a lush green botanical garden in Downtown Columbia, is located in Columbia, Missouri. The university's academic buildings are divided into two distinct groups: Red Campus and White Campus. Switzler Hall and Jesse Hall are located on Red Campus, which is the historical campus. The new structure, White Campus, is designed in a Neo-Gothic style. The main campus of the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics is located north of the sports complex. The Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital and the University of Missouri Hospital are also located there.The American Universities' Association is a member of the University of Missouri. It has even been designated as a "Doctoral/Research Extensive" university by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. It is divided into seven colleges and eleven schools, with approximately 300 majors. It manages 23 on-campus living halls as well as at least two off-campus locations. It also boasts one of the country's oldest and largest Greek systems. The Greek community accounts for roughly 22% of the university's student body. With an enrolment of around 30, 870 students in 2017 and 300 degree programmes, MU is the state's largest university. Full-time faculty members with the highest degrees in the disciplines work at the institution.

University of Missouri International Students Admissions
International students must fulfil some specific rules in order to apply to the university. The following are some of the admission requirements.

Admission Requirements:
- Scores on the English Proficiency Test.
- To be certified as an acceptable copy of the results, official transcripts must be notarized or stamped by the applicant's secondary institution.
- Academically, a 2.50/4.00 GPA or an 80/100 score is required.
- All international candidates must submit a statement and a certificate of financial responsibility.
- A minimum of one letter of recommendation must be submitted.
