Youngstown State University, also known as YSU, is a reputable public research university in Youngstown, Ohio. Established in 1908, it got to known as Youngstown College in 1931 and sought accreditation from the North Central Association in 1944. On 1st September 1967, after becoming a public establishment, Youngstown University turned out to be formally known as Youngstown State University. The following spring, YSU opened a Graduate School and College of Applied Science and Technology. In 1974, the College of Fine and Performing Arts was built. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
The 145-acre Youngstown State University campus is located in the scenic Mahoning Valley in the city of Youngstown, Ohio. It features reading and study rooms, computer labs, a copying center, various restaurants, and many student affairs offices. There are additionally many meeting and seminar rooms
